Transitioning your wardrobe into fall

Happy Thursday everyone! Does anyone else find themselves thinking they need to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe for every season? Since going off to college I’ve had to cut down on my shopping expenses, and so I’ve found it helpful to only buy pieces that can be made into multiple outfits. So I wanted to share with you some ways that I’ve revamped my wardrobe without buying anything.

Many of you may have already heard of this but making a capsule wardrobe is a great money saver and it allows you to get creative when it comes to your outfits. For those of you who have no idea what a capsule wardrobe is, its okay I just found out about them last year, it’s basically curating your wardrobe to include a number of versatile pieces and creating multiple outfits from those same pieces. It’s a great way to save money and actually wear the pieces you have. I hope this helps give you guys some inspiration and remember you don’t need these exact pieces to make these outfits, you can pair any striped shirt with a colored cardigan etc. To help you out I wanted to include a few examples below for you guys…

These kinds of outfits have been on major repeat for me! I love wearing sweaters under utility jackets or even a light outdoor jacket because you can easily shed layers when you get hot. Also, this jacket (number 4) is the perfect fall jacket! I purchased it during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I’ve been wearing it every day when I walk to class.

Another great way to layer sweaters is to put a lacy tank under. I choose this sweater because it has a wider V neck so you’ll be able to see the lace underneath. I’m absolutely in love with this sweater though it is just a perfect fall staple.

You could also layer a longer shirt underneath your sweater. It doesn’t have to be stripped you can layer any pattern or simply a white shirt under this. These booties though are amazing! They are just like these Steve Madden ones you see all over Instagram!

Another way you could layer is by just wearing a flannel under your sweater and allowing the top to show through. Now all these tips work with any sweater, but they will work best if you have a sweater with a wider neck so that the undershirt can peak through.

If you are still wanting to wear a dress this fall this would be the perfect outfit combo! Simply pair any fitted midi dress under any oversized sweater or jacket. Since the dress will stick out at the bottom and be more fitted you can get away with wearing a looser top, but if you don’t feel that would work for you, you can always belt it at the waist of your sweater and pull it in a little bit more.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had so much fun coming up with different outfit ideas, I hope it was helpful for you.
