Happy Thursday everyone! I know it has been a while since I’ve last posted on here, but today I wanted to compile a round-up of some items that I have purchased these last few months and am loving so much! Many of the items are also on major sale because of July 4th!
Target Bell sleeved midi dress– I got this in the black/ white polka dot patter and absolutely love it! I would say it fits true to size (I got an XS). It would also look adorable belted and with a pair of sandals or heels!
Allbirds everyday sneaker– These are by far one of my favorite purchases! I have worn them in the heat all day but the shoe never smells and my feet don’t overheat. I also purchased their merino wool no show socks that have also been amazing! I will link those here
Madewell ruffle silk top– I got this in a Small and love the fit of it. Can easily be dressed up with a skirt and heels, or dressed down with denim and sandals. It is currently 60% and under $50!
Madewell denim shorts– I have practically worn these everyday since I got them because they are so comfortable to wear! I would say they fit true to size but with wear you can expect them to stretch a little. Currently under $50!
Diane Hill “A Change is Gonna Come”– designed by the extremely talented Diane Hill, this piece was inspired by the 1964 song ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ by Sam Cooke. 100% of the profits from this piece are being donated to NAACP and United Family and Friends Campaign (can read more about their work on the site). I was so excited for this piece to arrive, and it is just as beautiful in person as it is online!
So you want to talk about race– “In So You Want to Talk About Race, Ijeoma Oluo guides readers of all races through subjects ranging from intersectionality and affirmative action to “model minorities” in an attempt to make the seemingly impossible possible: honest conversations about race and racism, and how they infect almost every aspect of American life.” -Amazon
White fragility– Robin DiAngelo “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to ‘bad people’ (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, DiAngelo examines how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively.” -Amazon
Homecoming– “Homegoing follows the parallel paths of these sisters and their descendants through eight generations: from the Gold Coast to the plantations of Mississippi, from the American Civil War to Jazz Age Harlem. Yaa Gyasi’s extraordinary novel illuminates slavery’s troubled legacy both for those who were taken and those who stayed—and shows how the memory of captivity has been inscribed on the soul of our nation.” -Amazon
Aeri camp sorts– I have also been living in these since they came in. They are super comfortable and cute! They run true to size I would say, I got an XS. Under $30!
